Currently under way and running through June, One Barrel proprietor, Peter Gentry, will donate 100% of the 'ceiling cash' to Briarpatch's 'Giving Homeless Youth a Chance' shelter campaign. Briarpatch's shelter officially opened October 1, 2015, and has served dozens of unaccompanied teens in crisis. The campaign is halfway to a goal of $3.1 million. One Barrel is also directing 1% of retail sales to Briarpatch.
"Reaching our goal means we will have the resources to ensure ongoing operations of the shelter, and the ability to retire the mortgage on our building," shares Cedric Johnson, Briarpatch Development & Communications Director. "We built the facility to accommodate the shelter and our previously cramped staff. Once we hit that goal, we'll be able to put $120,000 back into delivering our mission."
The agency plans to host a closing event with live music and other activities in late June.
